My Love Story with Yamada-kun at Lv999

My Love Story with Yamada-kun at Lv999

Looks like dumping people has become the new thing in romance anime. Say hello to Akane, who got dumped by her ex-boyfriend. She’s thinking about giving up the video game she used to play with him when she runs into the mysterious Yamada.

He’s a gaming legend, but that’s also his biggest problem. He’s only interested in playing games and doesn’t care about real-life stuff. Loving Yamada at level 999 shakes up the typical romance tropes and gives us a sweet love story about a gamer boy and a heartbroken girl.

Will Yamada be able to put down his controller and make a move? You’ll have to watch the anime in April to find out!

Why Ray Liena ended up at the Duke’s Mansion

Why Ray Liena ended up at the Duke's Mansion

Do you remember how you were all about going to college? And do you also remember how someone pushed you off a roof? No? Well, that’s what happened to Yona Park.

She was an ambitious girl with dreams of college, but then she got pushed off a roof. But get this: in this anime, she’s reborn in another world as Raeliana McMillan.

Raeliana is a character from a novel, and her own fiancé poisons her to death. But Raeliana refuses to die again. Now, you might think this is just a cool murder mystery adventure romance anime, but if you strip away the fancy stuff, you’ll see it’s just your typical reverse harem show.

But don’t get me wrong, this doesn’t mean it’s bad. As a fan of the anime, I can tell you it’s going to be a great reverse harem.

Insomniacs After School

Insomniacs After School anime

Looks like we’re dealing with insomnia again. Does that ring a bell? Remember that heartwarming anime about the guy and his vampire girlfriend?

Well, this time our girl isn’t a vampire, but she’s got insomnia just like our guy. That means they can meet up at night in the abandoned observatory at school and share their secrets. Insomniacs After School may not be anything super special, but it’s a nice little slice-of-life adventure.

Instead of forcing romance down your throat in every episode, it’s more of a feel-good anime that’ll make you feel warm and fuzzy inside. Insomniacs After School releasing on April 11th, so make sure to add it to your watchlist.

Sacrificial Princess and the King of Beasts

Sacrificial Princess and the King of Beasts

Alright, it’s time for a new story that’s totally not ripping off Beauty and the Beast. I’m just kidding. At first, this looks like a total copy, but in reality, it’s not. Here’s what’s up: every year, the king of beasts demands a female sacrifice.

This year’s sacrifice is Sariphi, but she’s not like the other girls. She’s fearless and when the beast king comes to devour her, she’s like, “Go ahead, eat me like that burger from Burger King.” This surprises the beast king and he’s impressed by her bravery.

So, he decides to take her back to his castle and let her live there. And from there on, you can probably guess what happens next. Love blooms, there’s a big bad villain, and the fate of the world hangs in the balance. But don’t worry, Disney doesn’t own the rights to this one, so the adaptation is in good hands.

The Cafe Terrace and its Goddesses

The Cafe Terrace and its Goddesses

Alright, we’ve got another classic anime trope for this season: the loner who suddenly ends up with a bunch of girls. And boy, does this one start off with a bang. Meet Hayato, a guy who returns to his childhood home after his grandmother’s passing. And what does he find there?

Five girls, all claiming to be his grandma’s family. Is this gonna turn into some family feud drama? Do we need Vin Diesel to come in and break it up?

According to the premise, this is supposed to be Hayato’s unexpected life in a seaside town with five girls. But we all know how “unexpected” this is really gonna be. If you’re looking for some silly love drama to spice up your season, then this is the show for you.

A Galaxy Next Door

A Galaxy Next Door

No need to get your hopes up for a sci-fi adventure, because this anime isn’t about aliens coming to visit. Instead, we’re introduced to a manga artist named Ichirou Kuga who’s struggling to make ends meet after his father passes away.

Enter Shiori Goshiki, a talented and stunning girl who offers to help Ichirou. But things take a turn when Shiori proposes to him and asks for his hand in marriage. That’s right, it’s another story about a girl showing up out of nowhere, working with the protagonist, and then asking to get hitched. But what about the galaxy?

Well, it turns out Shiori is hiding a serious secret that could change everything. Want to know what it is? Tune in and find out.

The Dangers In My Heart

The Dangers In My Heart

I know what you’re thinking, “a romance anime about a psychopath? No way!” But trust me, it’s not what you think. So, the main character in this anime is a bit of a psychopath.

He’s got this weird fascination with murder and dreams about it all the time. Specifically, he’s fixated on killing the class idol, Anna Yamada. But here’s the thing, it’s not about the killing at all. It’s about the interactions between this strange guy and Anna.

Now, I know what you’re thinking, “this sounds like other anime where the girl teases the MC all the time.” And you’re right, it’s a bit like that. But this guy is way more messed up than Nishikata from Takagi-san.

Despite his dark thoughts, he’s actually really shy. And Anna, well, she loves to tease him. But here’s the kicker: it’s not every day you get to see a romance between a psychopath and a girl who loves to tease him. So, don’t expect a ton of hardcore murder in this one. It’s more about the weird and fascinating relationship between these two characters.

The Ancient Magus Bride Season 2

The Ancient Magus Bride Season 2

Get this, there’s this Japanese high school student named Chise Hatori. She’s been through a lot and she’s looking for a new place to call home. So, what does she do? She sells herself at an auction in London for 5 million pounds to a masked gentleman.

Now, you might be thinking, “Oh no, not another sacrificial princess and the king of beasts story!” But hold on a minute. This story is different. That masked gentleman turns out to be a Magus named Elias Ainsworth. And get this, he’s 7 feet tall and has an animal skull for a head! But don’t worry, this isn’t your typical romance anime.

The Ancient Magus Bride executes the romance element trope really well and introduces some innovative fantasy elements. That’s why I’m super pumped for season 2, which will have Chise visiting a mysterious school for mages.

If you’re into fantasy romance, then you definitely need to add this to your watchlist. It’s not every day that you get a story that’s both unique and well-executed.

Tonikaku Kawai Season 2

Tonikaku Kawai Season 2

You’ve definitely heard of Tonikaku Kawai, right? It’s the one where a boy gets hit by a truck, gets saved by a girl, and she promises to marry him. Later on, they meet up, get hitched, and live happily ever after. It’s hands down the most wholesome show of 2022 and fans have been begging for a season 2.

Well, guess what? The almighty anime gods have heard our prayers and we’re getting a new season this spring! The secret to Tonikawa’s success is that it’s not all about the tension. Instead, it’s an anime about an awkward yet adorable couple in a small home. What’s cool about Tonikaku Kawai is that it doesn’t focus on the getting-together part. Instead, it shows what happens after the characters are already legally married and living together. And let me tell you, it’s super cute.

So, if you’re a fan of wholesome stuff, then Tonikaku Kawai Season 2 is for you. Season 2 is coming back with another 12 episodes of pure cuteness, so mark your calendars!

Origairu OVA

My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU OVA

Do you remember Origairu? Or as it’s also known, My Youth Romantic Comedy is Wrong, As I Expected, or My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU? The story is all about Hachiman, the main character, slowly opening up to those around him and forcing them to change alongside him.

Along the way, we get to see a love triangle, two love interests, club activities, a teacher who proves she’s the best girl and even some school drama. With over 3 seasons of content, there’s plenty to enjoy. But, don’t be too sad about its end.

There’s an OVA coming out soon with an additional story, released alongside the novels. Mark your calendars for April 27th! And, if you’re really missing it, there’s always the visual novel. You can pick whichever route you want, and even marry the sensei. So, let’s go!
