After a long, hot summer, we’re finally headed into the fall anime season. It’s a time when shows tend to pick up the pace and deliver better storylines, but also a time when the industry is flooded with new series. It can be hard to keep up with all the shows coming out in fall 2022, much less the ones that look like they could be worth watching.
So to help narrow things down, I’ve compiled a list of the best confirmed upcoming anime in fall 2022. Some of them are brand new series, some are sequels, and some are continuations of existing series. They’re all worth watching, and I’m excited to see what they have in store.

It has been a great year for anime fans so far, but fall 2022 promises to be even better with some of the best upcoming anime series ever. These are the most anticipated anime of 2022, so get ready.
10. Reincarnated as a Sword
In the realm of anime, we’ve seen individuals resurrected as all sorts of things, but how about a sword for a change of pace? This is undoubtedly exploring new territory for the isekai genre, and it delivers some intriguing results.
Our protagonist awakens in the middle of a forest of monsters and discovers the cat girl Fran, who saves her. Fran, who has faced persecution in the past, yearns for freedom and vengeance, and her meeting with a sword proves to be a defining moment in her life.
She starts on a path of redemption with a new partner. The opponents are countless, but the two must also learn and accept each other in order to survive their dangerous adventure. Let us join the adventures of the strongest duo in October 2022.
09. Urusei Yatsura
I wasn’t expecting a remake of this old-school show. Rumiko Takahashi’s first manga is getting a remake, which fans haven’t necessarily asked for but welcome with open arms.
The stories about the purvey Ataru and his experiences with Oni alien invaders. Ataru, sent to represent humans in combat against the Oni, defeats the aliens’ representatives Lum. However, success turns into a disaster when Lum develops feelings for our protagonist and decides to move in with him.
As if the consequences of his womanising methods weren’t awful enough, Ataru now has to deal with this alien who can be a handful. Urusei Yatsura was one of the more famous titles of the 1980s, setting trends in anime clichés and fanservice.
I’m curious how this will feel after receiving current treatment. We won’t have to wait long to find out, as it will be available in fall 2022.
08. The Eminence in Shadow
We all have delusory times. We imagine things and often luxuriate in our own grandeur. Some, though, are more like Cid Kagenou, choosing to be the type of figure who plays a genius behind the shadows, the overlord behind the scenes, if you will.
He receives his wish. He reincarnates as a mob protagonist, gathering a gang of cute and badass girls into his gang, Shadow Garden. They work together to bring down a mystery cult that emerged from his own mind.
Unfortunately, things may not go as smoothly as Cid had hoped, and much more serious and deadly threats lurk beyond the Diablos cult’s façade. Who will win the battle between Shadow Garden and the Diablos cult? Join Cid and his gang in this anime that isn’t your typical power fantasy world.
07. Spy X Family Part 2
Just when you thought it was finished, Loid Forger, Yor, and Anya return to our screens to provide us with even more of the wild, funny, wholesome, and exciting.
That didn’t take long, but given the show’s popularity and the positive response from fans, it’s not surprising. Spy Family is clearly a contender for one of the year’s most popular anime; those who have seen the first season can see why. It simply offers a new perspective and vibe to modern anime.
Spy Family is one of those shows you watch to relax; as far as entertainment goes, it does a great job. Who wants to see more of the Spy Family? I certainly am, and it will be one of the highlights of the fall 2022.
06. My Hero Academia Season 6
It’s all a coincidence, but one of the most popular shounen series will premiere its sixth season on the 60th anniversary of the anime. Six years is a long time, and fans have seen their fair share of thrilling revelations, heartbreaking drama, and spectacular action, and guess what? They will return for more.
This season appears to be the final chapter in the rising of the villain saga. As someone who has read the manga, I can tell you to brace yourself for the last battle.
Nothing will ever be the same again once this arc is completed, and I can only hope that the anime adaptation does honor to this arc that leads us to the manga’s conclusion. At this point, it’s a given that we’ll receive a full adaption, so let’s hope for another fantastic season as we near the end.
05. Blue Lock
We’ve seen all kinds of sports anime, from the dramatic to the high-tension, action-packed blockbusters that have come to define the genre in the modern era, but nothing as high-stakes as this. To be honest, I don’t think the characters in the universe do either.
The most promising Japanese strikers are transported to Blue Lock, a prison-like facility where they fight. The winner becomes the national team striker, while the losers are permanently banned from joining the team.
However, such a high-stakes environment only brings out the best in the top players, and Yoichi Isagi is one such contender. He joins the Blue Lock project, carrying a weight with him, risking his dreams, wants, and all in his dream to lead the Japanese team to eternal glory.
This is shaping up to be a dark horse title this fall 2022, and I’m excited to see how it turns out.
04. To Your Eternity Season 2
When To Your Eternity S2 was announced, it came as a bit of a surprise. When I was previewing and recapping To Your Eternity in my seasonal list for 2021, I sang a lot of praises for it.
However, I must confess that the show is pretty niche. Despite the superb writing, it lacks the characteristics for broad appeal to a general audience, thus I was surprised that they selected to give it a second season. But I’m not complaining because I genuinely liked To Your Eternity.
This type of mystical drama is rare these days. For lack of a better phrase, something slower-burning and introspective. It takes a unique approach, and while the episodes are at their best in the beginning, I have big hopes for season two.
There are still more people and places for Fushi to discover, as well as more aspects of life to learn from the creator. After all, the season 2 arc starts slowly but ends up being some of the best stuff in the manga thus far, and that alone excites me.
03. Mob Psycho 100 III
Looking at Mob Psycho makes me feel nostalgic for My Hero Academia. They aired simultaneously and have swiftly established a reputation for themselves. Between the two, I prefer Mob Psycho, owing to its narrower scope and more personal themes.
I’m not a huge Sakuga fan, but Mob Psycho has some of the most visually stunning battle scenes, both in terms of animation and stakes. After the amount of absorption and fun the first two seasons provided me, I actually don’t mind a third season of it.
Having to compete with so many other great blockbusters this season could hurt Mob Psycho’s popularity, but I’m confident that we fans will not be disappointed in terms of the actual substance.
Studio Bones has always done an excellent job with the series, and I’m expecting an even better adaptation in this final season which is going to release in fall 2022.
02. Chainsaw Man
Fall 2022 is bringing Chainsaw Man. People have been gushing about Chainsaw Man nonstop for months. It’s obvious that the anime will take the second slot on this list because it was the topic of conversation as soon as it was announced.
After reading the manga, it’s simple to see why there was such a buzz. Chainsaw Man pushes the limits in terms of brutality and subjects, despite being a jump series. A lot of readers have fallen in love with this gripping narrative because of how unexpected everything is and how edgy it is.
Chainsaw Man is not your typical jump offering, from the subversion to the sheer scale of the tragedy. It should be entertaining to watch the anime version, which will supposedly not be censored. How will Chainsaw Man’s entirety adapt into anime? There is only one way to find out.
01. Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War
There are a lot of things that can be said about the Bleach series, which has seen the same level of controversy as its shounen manga counterparts from the 2000s.
However, its legacy and the way it paved the way for many people to appreciate anime in the present period cannot be disputed. There has been a lot of demand for the anime to come back since it finished ten years ago.
The Bleach anime is returning with a vengeance and bringing us the thousand-year blood war’s last arc, half a decade after it ended.
Last but not least, longstanding viewers will be able to experience in animation numerous significant revelations in the series, including Ichigo’s origins, Quincy’s past, and the greatest stakes battle the Shinigami have ever had to fight. Only a few months remain till the start of the apocalypse, and the anticipation for bleach’s great finale is through the roof. So get ready for fall 2022 because it is going to be awesome.
