Over the sky is about one girl rejecting a guy regretting it several moments later and then getting transported to a world that exists between sky and space. Astronomers won’t consider this anime as something serious but I felt like this executed the whole lost the guy and I want to desperately get back to the guy concept really well.
The movie also involves some supernatural elements and even though the CGI looks a bit tad bad on the movie, it does a great job pushing you into this strange fantasy world with gods and requiems.
Some of the fantasy elements could have been a bit more innovative but come on, this is a romance anime. I’m not going to complain about fantasy in romance anime. There are also some sad moments in between, but the ending is happy.

On the other hand, the girl loves books and she’s currently searching for a book she had as a child. Now the boy hatches a new plan; he’ll get the book the girl needs and then give it to her.
Yes, this guy needs to be a bit more innovative but come on this is one of those fun bizarre rom-coms, you’re definitely going to love this.

You know how boys always mess up the confession and end up having to do it all over. Well, this time it’s the girl’s fault. After doing everything right and letting the words out of her mouth.
She plays it off as a joke and even rejects the boy. Yeah, way to go girl, that’ll make him love you more and just like that, our boy thinks the girl hates him and then she regrets it. Then we have her classmate named Ayase who has his own confession.
Yep, this anime starts with a love triangle that slowly turns into something like a love hexagon. The movie is more like your sweet-sweet rom-com where different characters fall in love with each other and they definitely know how to strike a balance between romance and comedy.

07. Whisper of the Heart
This is one of those old but gold drama romance anime that I always wanted to include in one of my lists. Whisperer of the hearts is about a girl called Shizuku Tsukishima. She loves poetry and whenever she borrows some poetry books, she sees most of them were checked out by a guy named Seiji.
She finds Seiji and the two strike friendship because of their similar hobbies. But now, even though she cannot say to Seiji because Shizuku has a secret. She doesn’t have any ambition but said she has one. This is one of the ghibli movies you should definitely watch.
I mean, come on, it is something done by Miyazaki and if this guy does something, it’s definitely going to be a hit. Besides, it’s good to watch one of those old romance animes once in a while.

06. The Moment You Fall in Love
This follows a different love triangle and rarely involves our old characters. This one follows the love story between Kotarou, Hina and Koyuki. The first two people I mentioned are siblings of Natsuki and the other guy is one of the upperclassmen.
This movie didn’t receive much positive reception like the last one and it cannot surpass the previous one in terms of story and animation but it’s still pretty good.
The voice acting was on point, the love triangle was pretty good, and if you ignore all those pacing issues, you can really enjoy this anime.

05. Saekano the Movie
For those who are wondering what Saekano means, you’ll have to watch the tv series named “Saekano: How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend” before watching this movie. Saekano tells the story of five high schoolers who try to make a visual novel based on a girl named Megumi Katou.
The head of the team, the nerdy Tomoya, soon begins to understand the values of Megumi more than just the game’s idol. It may start off as a generic harem anime. Still, the second season expands the characters’ backstories and personalities, and the final movie concludes all their arcs with this nostalgic finale you can’t help but fall in love with.
If you love one of those sweet romance anime where everything concludes with a fantastic finale and then leaves you with tears in your eyes because you cannot help but say goodbye to these characters, then here’s the movie for you.

04. The Anthem of Heart
Now whether this is a happy or sad ending is based on the couple you like. Let’s just say the ending takes a twist but still ends in a very happy note. Don’t worry, no character and this anime is going to die. Even though this involves music that isn’t going to be another Your Lie in April.
The Anthem of Heart follows the tragic story of a mute girl named Jun Naruse. Jun had gotten the curse of not being able to speak after being too naive and causing her parents to divorce.
Now, our girl is totally depressed and decides to quit everything until she begins to hear the music of the guy named Takumi Sakagami. It encourages her to join the music club and will she be able to get rid of the curse by learning to sing.
If you love an emotional drama that hits you in the feels but still ends on a happy note, make sure to watch this one.

03. Tamako Love Story
Like Saekano, Tamako Love Story is a sequel to an anime, so before you jump straight into the movie, you’ll have to watch the sequel series called Tamako Love Story First. The prequel anime doesn’t have much romance because it’s about the daily life of a restaurant girl and a talking bird, and no, I’m not joking.
On the other hand, the movie adds a lot of romance to the story and shows us the development between the main couple. There’s one girl trying to find an ambition larger than her past and one boy trying to fulfill his confession.
The movie is animated by Koyoto, so you know you can expect the kawaii factor to have the highest degree and if you’re one of those Tamako market fans who haven’t watched the movie yet, you’ll be happy to know it doesn’t have a sad ending.

02. A Silent Voice
I had to add a silent voice because of how the character transformation of Shouya and how he gets a happy ending in the end. Come on that’s something most bullies don’t experience in anime. Shouya initially acted like a bully toward a girl named Shouko, who was deaf and had hearing problems.
Now, the times have changed and he finds himself growing pessimistic and anti-social. Silent Voice is more than just a simple love story. It’s all about how we understand each other and how to accept everyone’s flaws.
Now even though I said this has a happy ending, this has some bittersweet and sad moments in between so don’t expect to watch this anime so you can feel wholesome unless you’ve been living under a rock these whole years.
