If you’re a fan of romance anime, then you’ve probably seen an anime series or two where the main character is a “bad boy” who falls for the “good girl”. If you like those types of stories, you’ll love the following anime where the bad boy is the one who falls for the girl. Here are your top 25 anime.

25. Paradise Kiss

Paradise Kiss romance anime where bad boy falls for girl

What happens when a weirdo starts stalking you? Well, you run away and that is what Yukari Hayasaka did too but then she fainted on the way and woke up in a room full of fashion designers. Now, all of these fashion designers want Yukari to be their official model but Yukari has other ideas.

She escapes but they track her down and force her to accept the request. One thing about Paradise Kiss excels at is drama. It doesn’t give you any new or unique drama but the characters in this setting make the drama more interesting.

I know the art style might throw some off but remember how Devilman Crybaby had a weird art style but turned out to be really good, this is the same. If you love some unique characters plus an interesting romance that doesn’t happen in high school under cherry blossom trees, then this is the show for you.

24. Sing “Yesterday” For Me

Sing Yesterday For Me bad boy good girl anime

Get ready to meet the bad boy and pessimist Rikuo Uozumi, a guy who works at a convenience store but is still depressed about his future. The only ray of sunshine in his life is a girl named Haru Nonaka who frequently drops by his workplace to befriend him but things get even more serious when Rikuo’s old friend and crush Shinako move back into town.

So now we have one pessimistic boy and two girls with different feelings. Our main character might not be the badass boy in town but he clearly doesn’t seem to care about other people’s feelings.

Sing Yesterday for Me has a lot of slice-of-life elements mixed in with some morally grey characters and even though you sometimes feel like punching all of them in the face, they all get their moments to shine. If you want that love triangle with a bad emotionless boy in the middle of it, then this is the show for you.

23. Black Cat

Black Cat romance anime where bad boy love good girl

No, we’re not talking about the Spider-Man villain or an actual Black Cat. This time it’s about an assassin. I know you’re gonna say another assassin anime but trust me, this one is good.

As you guessed, the assassin is the big bad boy here but when he meets Saya Minatsuki, a gunman and bounty hunter, he decides to quit his job and becomes a bounty hunter. Now creed wants to know why he switched sides, so he can chase after him.

Even though the show’s whole premise might seem gloomy, it has a lot of comedy. Even though the romance isn’t the main focus here but when it kicks in, it will be sweet and wholesome.

22. Shugo Chara!

Fairies, eggs, and bad boys, that’s Shugo Chara for you. We all want to hide our true selves at times such as the problem with Amu Hinamori.

She is a rather shy girl and forced to don a rather cheerful personality while wondering about a way she could reveal her true personality to her friends. She is met by three guardians who help her achieve what she wants. So, where does the bad boy come in?

Well, we’ve got a Tsukiyomi, a boy who’s aloof, enigmatic, stoic, and also a little bad. He has a habit of teasing people and one of his main targets is Amu.

Over time the two begin to realize their feelings for each other. This is one of those early anime with a bit of simplistic art style but that shouldn’t stop you from enjoying the great romance in this show.

The problems start on the very first day of high school when she realizes that the most annoying and rude boy is giving an open speech. This boy is called Kyouta Tsubaki and Hibino really hates him.

Koyuta is making fun of teasing Hibino at all times. The two of them are also at the top of the class so they are natural enemies until they fall in love. It’s important to note that the anime only tells part of the story, so read the manga to get the full experience.

19. Honobono Log

Honobono Log happy feel good cute romance anime

This next anime on the list is perfect for otaku romance anime fans but not for the reasons you expect. This anime was created to teach otaku what real relationships are.

This anime is a compilation of various romantic stories that show real relationships. It shows the best and worst moments as well as those lovey-dovey moments you have with your partner.

If you’re looking for a generic romance anime, this isn’t the show for you, but if you want some realistic romance with realistic characters, this will perfectly fit your watchlist. Seriously, there needs to be more anime like this where people can see real romance stories. It’s also beautifully animated so you can binge it really fast.

17. Code Breaker

Code Breaker romance anime where bad boy love good girl

You know the guy is a bad boy when he straight up goes and kills a person. Sakura Sakurakouji, on her way home, sees people being burnt alive by a guy with blue flames. Being the smart girl she is, she calls the police and heads back home but our mysterious killer becomes the new transfer student in school.

Sakura is cautious about being with him, but soon, she finds that the killer Rei is actually a sympathetic character. He’s cheerful, charming, and the last in the class to kill a person. Come on, how can this guy kill a person so easily? Then what did Rei see that day.

As you can see Code Breaker already starts off with a huge mystery and the story gets more complex as we move along. Similar to Black Cat, even though the story starts with a dark premise, there’s tons of comedy in between.

There isn’t much romance compared to the other shows on this list but this anime knows how to explore the bad boy and good girl tropes really well.

16. Dance With Devils

Dance With Devils romance anime where bad boy love good girl

No one is dancing here but we’ve got everyone’s favorite set of bad boys, the vampires. Also, we’ve got the devils too. Turns out there’s a huge war going on between devils and vampires and our main character Ritsuka Tachibana gets dragged into the middle of it.

Dance With Devils may look like a teen romance show but apart from the romance, there’s actually good mystery running in the background.

The show also has some nice fantasy aspects to it, like how these groups are searching for the grimoire, a tool that will allow them to control the world.

I know big concepts for a romance anime, but each of them is executed neatly by developing the mystery and then giving it a good payoff. If you love some twilight vampires who are bad boys, then you will love this show.

15. Kakuriyo: Bed and Breakfast for Spirits

Kakuriyo Bed and Breakfast for Spirits isekai Anime with OP MC

Anime always combines various genres with romance but have you seen an anime that combines romance and food? If you haven’t, then it’s time you watched Kakuriyo. One girl with debt needs to settle it with the spirits, so instead of marrying the guy wearing the mask, she decides to earn the cash by herself. Now a lot of people will believe this to be a love story but this focuses more on food.

This has a premise similar to Kami-Sama Kiss but the episodes are heavily dipper because of how much cooking is involved in the anime. Initially, cooking is involved only as a hobby but wait until you see how they integrate the whole cooking concept into the story so that it impacts the rest of the characters as well.

Also, did you know this has 10 ending themes? If we involve a little bit more music, this will be a musical food anime.

14. Kobato.

Kobato romance anime where bad boy love good girl

Kobato is one of those shows with a fairy-tale premise. This girl has a candy bottle and every time she helps a person, the bottle fills up. What happens when the whole bottle is filled up? Well, when the bottle is filled up, she gets to fulfill any wish he has.

Yeah, think of this as the holy grail but with no masters and servants. Kobato also has a really great art style for a romance anime and even though the romance comes in a bit later, it has some great slice-of-life elements in it.

If you want a tension-filled romance show, then Kobato is not the show for you, but if you want a slow-paced slice-of-life drama with family issues, romance troubles, and all of that, then Kabato is the show for you.

13. The Severing Crime Edge

The Severing Crime Edge anime where popular girl falls for unpopular guy

This anime involves cutting hair. Wait, it gets more interesting as we move along. Here we have a main character who has a desire to cut long hair. Luckily his weird fantasies come true when he finds a beautiful girl with long flowing hair named Iwai Mushanokouji.

Now that’s the simpler part. The more complex part is when we realize that cutting this girl’s hair will let anyone grant their wish. Now our guy has the ability himself and instead of cutting her hair to make his wish come true, he decides to cut her hair and set her free.

As you guessed, this involves many fantasy elements and a weird protagonist with a weird desire to cut hair, but the romance and mystery elements are really well done in this show. Just don’t try cutting the hair of random girls you meet after watching this anime.

12. The Case Study of Vanitas

Best Anime of 2021 Vanitas

This time our girl is the vampire and our guy is the type of person to flirt with the girl and then ask her to drink his blood. The story is centralized around Noé Archiviste, a guy who is searching for the legendary book of Vanitas.

Soon he finds it in the possession of a human named Vanitas and this guy keeps calling for trouble. The main girl arrives in the second episode and if you’ve seen a girl like Jeanne alter going around the internet, then that’s her Jeanne.

She starts off as the world’s strongest bodyguard and then gets addicted to the blood of Vanitas. Romance isn’t the main genre of this one but the relationship between Vanitas and Jean is heavily explored in the first few arcs of the series.

This is one of the most unique relationships I’ve seen in anime, so if you haven’t watched it, then right now is the time to kick out everything from your watch list and give this anime a chance.

11. Gakuen Alice

Gakuen Alice romance anime where bad boy love good girl

When I checked out this anime, the first thing I noticed was the love polygon tag. Until then, I didn’t even know that there was a tag like that. In the good old days, we called that harem, but it turns out Gakuen Alice was better than I expected.

You’ve got a nice supernatural magic system. You have an interesting set of characters plus a main character who isn’t very boring and instead of high schoolers we have little kids running the show this time. The first few episodes of the show are about two best friends reuniting and deciding to spend time in a weird academy and the romance kicks in later on.

The whole premise might be a bit too far-fetched but if you love those bad boy good girl dramas, then don’t forget to add this to your watch list.

10. Koikimo

Koikimo romance anime where bad boy love good girl

Once again, this is one of those controversial anime. Here we have a businessman falling in love with a high school girl and the businessman being another Bruce Wayne definitely doesn’t help to reduce that controversy.

At first, I thought the anime was going to use the controversy to push the story forward but it turns out the plot gets more depth as we move along. For example, it just starts off with a girl and a boy and then develops into a love triangle than a love rectangle. The show also does a good job portraying the businessman as an actual person and not another one of those rich playboys.

When you first watch this anime, you’re going to see this blonde dude and say dear god what a creep but as you move along, you’re going to say dear god what a romantic creep. There’s not much difference but there’s still good romance.

07. Devil’s Line

Devil's Line romance anime where bad boy love good girl

Come on, we cannot make a good bad-boy good-girl anime list without including at least one anime that copies Twilight. Here we follow the 22-year-old university student named Tsukasa Taira, who learns the existence of vampires when her friend turns out to be a vampire. While trying to discover more about it, she finds Yuuki Anzai and soon finds herself getting attracted to the boy.

Yuuki on the other hand is an open book always revealing his feelings and making Tsukasa embarrassed. The couple soon developed a forbidden romance with Yuuki desperately trying not to do what vampires normally do drink blood.

You could call this the combination of Twilight and Tokyo Ghoul but instead of ghouls, we have vampires. The romance can be a bit too cheesy at times, but apart from that, you get a nice forbidden romance along with vampires.

06. School Rumble

School Rumble

This one is special because it perfectly balances comedy and romance. The anime is focused on Tenma Tsukamoto, a clumsy high school student. She’s also deeply in love with Ouji Karasuma.

He is a very strange boy and doesn’t even know that Tenma exists. But that’s not all. Kenji Harima is a high school delinquent and in love with Tenma, so this is the peak example of the love triangle romance.

This anime is filled with amazing and funny characters and all of them are involved with Tenma and Harima. Harima, on multiple occasions, tries to confess his feelings but something always goes wrong and the same thing happens with Tenma and Ouji. This is the show for you if you need laughs in romance anime.

05. Earl and Ferry

Earl and Fairy fantasy romance anime

For number fifth on this list, we have the anime that takes place in the past, in Victorian England. We follow Lydia Carlton, who has earned the nickname, Fairy Doctor. This is because she has an unusual knowledge of fairies.

Like all good romance stories, her life gets turned upside down when she meets a man named Edgar J. C. Ashenbert. She joins Edgar and his crew of misfits on an adventure to London. Now the great thing about this show is how it takes the whole concept of fairies and presents it in a very unique and interesting way.

Don’t forget the Japanese love western folklore and mythology, so the novel this anime was based on was an instant hit. This also has many shoujo elements but doesn’t affect the overall story, so make sure to give this one a watch.

04. Hanasakeru Seishounen

Romance Anime With Overprotective MC

Am I the only one who thinks the main character of this show looks like Shiki from Garden of Sinners? This is the reverse harem story and before you shoot the screen with a pistol, let me just say that this one is one of the good ones.

Honestly, this is one of the best ones; why? Because we finally have a female character who doesn’t act like a damsel in distress. She finally has the balls to kick her father’s balls and say no old guy and I’m marrying who I want not the guy you want.

The show may start off as a who should I marry anime, but it turns into a political game where everyone wants to backstab each other by the third episode. This has some nice pacing plus some great plot twists you never see coming. If you want some written romance anime where bad boy love good girl, then don’t forget to add this to your watch list.

03. Sounds Of Life

Sounds Of Life romance anime where bad boy falls for girl

Sounds is more about the sounds of instruments rather than romance but along the way, we get a perfect couple of all time. Come on, a bad boy plus a girl who looks like the high school version of Revy from Black Lagoon that’s like the best combo ever. Are you tired of the good innocent boys whose music geniuses? Then here’s a change for you.

Instead of the good guy, we’ve got the school delinquent whose only skill is music. But when he tries to join the school music club, the club president refuses considering the guy’s background.

After that, considering how our main character has a history in music with his grandfather being a popular Koto maker the president gives him a chance and then we meet this sweet innocent-looking girl who is actually a blood-thirsty girl. So that’s a whole another level of fun.
